Finishing of the Barrels.

Placing of the heads and final strapping of the barrel.

In order to do this, we put the barrel on a wood lathe to dig the chime, which is the circular groove where the head will be firmly wedged, before being sealed using a mix of flour and water. The temporary hoops that are used for the “mise en rose” are now replaced by the final hoops. The final strapping is then put into place. Then come the finitions: sandpapering and laser marking (our signature, customer’s logo, toasting type and serial number, if it is an Aphrodite barrel in a limited edition).

Inspection of tightness under pressure.

Water under pressure is pumped into the barrel, in order to check the tightness of the structure. If an error occurs, the barrel is sent directly back to the workshop to be repaired.
